Brenda is an illustrative character. You may know a Brenda. You may be Brenda.
In this version, Brenda runs a weekly report. Someone redesigns the process, creates a new tracker and announces it in a meeting Brenda wasn’t in. On Friday, she does what she always does. Now there are two reports, three versions of the numbers and a surprisingly emotional email thread.
A diagram isn’t an implementation.
The new process might be perfectly sensible. But nobody showed Brenda what changes in her actual work, who owns the handoff or when the old spreadsheet stops being the source of truth.
If the old way still works, people need more than a link to understand why they should stop using it.
Walk through an actual Friday.
Sit with the people touching the work. Follow a real example from start to finish. Name the owner at each step. Agree on what happens when something is late, incomplete or wrong.
Then retire the old path deliberately. Check back after the first few runs. The questions people ask are part of the implementation, not evidence that they weren’t listening.
Stories may be illustrative, anonymized or composite. No client results are claimed.
